Celtic must secure Tyrhys Dolan transfer

Celtic have seen numerous players leave Glasgow over the years to join teams in the English Premier League.

One player who followed this path is Stuart Armstrong, who joined the Hoops in 2015 from Dundee United.

During his time at Parkhead, the Scotsman made 144 appearances across all competitions, in which he scored 28 goals and delivered 25 assists.

In 2018, Armstrong said goodbye to Celtic as he joined Southampton in a deal worth £7m. Since then, the 30-year-old has gone on to make 134 appearances for the south coast club, racking up 17 goals and 12 assists in the process.

Now that some years have passed since the Scotland international brought an end to his time as a Celtic player, it seems as though the Hoops could now have the chance to bring in their next version of Armstrong.

Last month, it was claimed on Twitter by talkSPORT’s Geoff Peters that the Bhoys are keen on signing Blackburn Rovers’ Tyrhys Dolan, who the presenter labelled as being “highly rated”, for a fee of £2m to £3m.

With 34 Championship appearances to his name last season, the 20-year-old found the net four times and supplied three assists for his team-mates.

This highlights his attacking prowess in being able to not only score goals but set them up as well, in a similar way that Armstrong did at Celtic and has done for his current club.

Also, with the youngster featuring as a wide player and through the middle of the midfield and attack, this sort of versatility puts him in the same light as the former Hoops figure, as he has also shown how capable he is of playing out wide and in the middle of the pitch when called upon.

To further compare the duo and their attacking talents, in their previous league campaigns, they both racked up at least 30 shots at goal and delivered more than 30 crosses.

If a chance to secure a deal for the Blackburn starlet arises this summer, the Hoops should definitely do all they can to bring him to Parkhead, especially since their Old Firm rivals Rangers recently signed their own young attacking talent in the form of Rabbi Matondo.
