Manchester City veteran midfielder Fernandinho has announced that he will leave Manchester City, after 9 years with the Citizens.
The Brazilian no.6, who is also the club captain, has been limited to just 6 Premier League starts this season thanks to the form of Rodri, signed to be his replacement, and his contract expires at the end of the current campaign.
And, after racking up 373 appearances and counting for the Manchester side, the 36 year old has revealed that he plans to leave the club this summer, returning to his native Brazil to see out his career.
‘I want to play. I will go back to Brazil, for sure. I’ve decided with my family, it’s the most important for me’, the midfielder told the media ahead of his side’s return leg with Atletico Madrid, where the Citizens hold a slender 1 goal advantage.

Sent off with a treble?
Fernandinho has been at the club since their second title win under new ownership in 2014, and has won 11 trophies, including 6 League Cups.
However, while they failed to defend their trophy in that competition this time around, they are still on course for a potential historic treble, in the semi-finals of the FA Cup as well as being in pole position in both their Champions League quarter-final and the Premier League.
It would be a fitting send-off for their club captain to be able to lift the first European treble that an English side has managed since 1999 as his final act in Sky Blue.
