How Arsenal missing out on Dusan Vlahovic could help them land Juventus star Dejan Kulusevski

Arsenal chase Vlahovic, but to no avail

Dusan Vlahovic is the next taxi off the rank when it comes to star strikers.

The Fiorentina man, still just 21 years old, netted 21 times last campaign, and has proved it was no fluke, scoring 11 in 14 Serie A appearances so far this season.

As a result, he has a host of clubs chasing his signature, having confirmed that he will be leaving Fiorentina before or when his contract expires in 2023.

However, it is thought that Juventus are Vlahovic’s preferred destination, with the Old Lady set to prepare a 50 million pound bid for the Fiorentina striker in January.

Despite the disappointment of missing out on the Serbia star, Arsenal can still profit from the transfer.

Kulusevski on the market

Arsenal have been credited with an interest in Dejan Kulusevski already this year by reliable journalist Gianluca di Marzio.

The 21-year-old Swede has made just two starts for the Old Lady this campaign, being left largely to come off the bench to affect games. Most recently, against Atalanta, he was not even given that role.

Blessed with a brilliant left-foot and plenty of pace, he would certainly add something different to Arsenal’s attacks should they opt to pursue him, although he would join Bukayo Saka, Nicolas Pepe and Martin Odegaard as left-footed attackers in the squad.

Now, as per Italian outlet Calcio Mercato, Federico Chiesa’s injury has handed Kulusevski a Juventus lifeline, but the Old Lady are weighing up a January sale of the youngster in order to fund a move for Vlahovic.

As shown by the Manuel Locatelli deal, which was structured as a loan with an obligation to buy in the second season, the Turin outfit are not exactly flush with cash at the moment. Could Arsenal take advantage?
