Jurgen Klopp issues injury update on star Liverpool pair ahead of FA Cup semi-final

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has revealed that Diogo Jota has a ‘good chance’ of being fit for the FA Cup Semi-final clash with Manchester City on Saturday afternoon, after the Portuguese forward suffered a scare against Benfica.

The Reds fought to a 3-3 draw against the Portuguese side at Anfield in the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie, which was enough to go through on aggregate and book their place in the semi-finals against perennial underdogs Villareal.

And just three days later they have another semi-final as they look to keep their quadruple hopes alive, as they face Manchester City in the FA cup semi-final, a week after the 2-2 draw played out between the sides.

Whichever side loses will end their hopes of history, with Manchester City gunning for a treble and Liverpool themselves going for the unprecedented quadruple, having already lifted the EFL Cup in February.

And the Reds will be boosted by the return of both Jota and Mohamed Salah, both of who seemed to pick up knocks against the Portuguese League outfit.

‘Diogo (Jota) has a good chance he will be all right, but we need to have a closer look tomorrow. That’s it.” It looks like Mo Salah will be fine, he also picked up a knock on Wednesday night’, Klopp told the media ahead of the game.

Manchester City face their own injury issues

There could be more good news for Liverpool fans as both Kevin De Bruyne and Kyle Walker were forced off from their hard-fought Champions League quarter-final against Atletico Madrid, with what appeared to be ankle injuries.

‘We played three days ago, travelled, came here, have a lot of injuries now and I don’t know what will happen in the next weeks’, Guardiola admitted after the draw that sent his side through on aggregate.

‘We cannot play all the time and score four or five goals, we are human beings – we come from a difficult game against Liverpool.’

‘We are in big trouble.’

Such turmoil will come as music to Liverpool supporters’ ears.
