Manchester United reach agreement in principle for Erik ten Hag to become new boss

Manchester United look to be closing in on the appointment of a permanent manager.

Ralf Rangnick, who is expected to transition into a consultancy role at the end of the season, has been in temporary charge of the club since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was sacked earlier this campaign.

The German has had little success at Old Trafford so far, overseeing their exit from the FA Cup and Champions League at the hands of Middlesbrough and Atletico Madrid, as well as guiding the Red Devils out of the top-four, down to sixth.

Now though, it appears United have finally settled on a replacement. Mauricio Pochettino of PSG and Erik ten Hag of Ajax are the two names to have been most heavily linked with the role.

And now, as per The Athletic, Manchester United have agreed a deal in principle with the latter of that duo: ‘Manchester United have reached an agreement in principle with Erik ten Hag to become their next permanent manager’

It is believed to be a verbal agreement and Ten Hag is expected to join on a contract to run for up to four years.

Moreover, it is added that Ajax are aware of the situation and still need to reach a deal with United, though there will be no written agreement or announcement until after Ajax face PSV Eindhoven in the Dutch Cup final on April 17.
