Liverpool’s Mo Salah speaks out on Darwin Nunez arrival and Sadio Mane’s exit

Liverpool star Mohamed Salah has, on Friday, spoken publicly for the first time regarding both the club’s signing of Darwin Nunez, and departure of attacking partner in crime Sadio Mane.

The name of wide-man Salah, of course, has taken its place front and centre in the headlines across the day to date.

This comes after the Egyptian finally put to bed the long-standing speculation surrounding his future, in putting pen to paper on fresh terms at Anfield.

Altogether out of the blue, word was forthcoming online that Salah had committed to a new contract through the summer of 2025, featuring an alleged wage packet of over £350,000-per-week.

Speaking on the back of the news being made official, the 30-year-old had the following to say:

“I feel great and [I am] excited to win trophies with the club. It’s a happy day for everyone.

“It takes a little bit of time, I think, to renew, but now everything is done so we just need to focus on what’s next.

“I think you can see in the last five or six years the team was always going [upwards]. Last season we were close to winning four, but unfortunately in the last week of the season we lost two trophies.

“I think we are in a good position to fight for everything. We have new signings as well. We just need to keep working hard, have a good vision, be positive and go for everything again.”

The noteworthy takeaways from Salah’s post-contract signing interview, though, did not end there.

As alluded to above, the prolific winger was also drawn on the shake-up which has taken place across Jurgen Klopp’s frontline this summer, culminating in Sadio Mane being replaced by Darwin Nunez.

And Salah was quick to confirm his excitement with the prospect of taking to the pitch alongside the latter, albeit with Mane set to be ‘missed’:

“I am so excited, I want to play with him,” the Egyptian began. “He had a good season and played good against us, home and away. Also, Sadio has left and I am going to miss him. He had great seasons with the club, so I wish him all the best. I wish Darwin all the best too to score many goals for us.”
