One notable addition that many at the Midlands club will be hoping can become an important figure in the team is Taiwo Awoniyi.
Signed from Union Berlin on a five-year deal worth a reported £17.5m, the striker arrives at the City Ground with plenty of excitement surrounding him, having scored 20 goals in 43 appearances last season.
In fact, with more shots at goal in the Bundesliga last season (66) than any other player at Die Eisernen, the 24-year-old also had more shots on target (30) than any of his previous group of team-mates.
While there is still some time left before the summer transfer window closes, this period could give Forest the chance to add some extra attacking reinforcements to their squad so that they don’t end up back in the Championship at the first time of asking.
One man who has been mentioned with a move to the club recently and who would give Cooper the chance to form a potentially deadly attacking partnership alongside Awoniyi is Dinamo Zagreb winger Mislav Orsic.
Would you take Mislav Orsic at Forest?
After playing for a range of clubs in a variety of countries, the 29-year-old joined his current employers in the summer of 2018.
In 187 appearances for the Croatian champions, Orsic has found the net 78 times and supplied 32 assists along the way. Three of those goals came during Dinamo Zagreb’s 3-0 win over Tottenham in the Europa League in March 2021, which shows that he’s capable of making an impact against Premier League opposition.
One of his three goals against Spurs ended up being described as “stunning” by journalist Alasdair Gold on Twitter.
To further highlight his attacking prowess, with eight appearances to his name in last season’s Europa League, the 29-year-old racked up a higher average for shots per game (2.4) than any other player at Dinamo Zagreb.
Taking all this into account, if Forest can secure the winger’s signature – something that Burnley were unable to do as the player was linked with a £10m move to Turf Moor last January – and get him firing alongside Awoniyi in the middle of their attack, this could be a frightening partnership which could help Cooper’s side to have a successful top-flight campaign.
