Tottenham and Chelsea players star in Premier League Team of the week: Gameweek 31 edition.

Plenty of players turned in high quality performances for their sides, not least in the pulsating affair between Manchester City and Liverpool which saw both sides come away with a point from the Etihad.

There was lots of entertainment elsewhere too, with Tottenham, Chelsea and Leeds United all winning by 3 goals or more. While not a good weekend to be a defender, the forwards had a field day.

Here’s who makes 101’s Team of the Week.

GK: Hugo Lloris (Tottenham)

In the end, what turned into a 4-0 win for Spurs could have been very different if it wasn’t for the veteran goalkeeper. The Tottenham captain made a series of fine saves in the first half to keep the score at 1-0, something that Spurs finally capitalised on in the second half.

RB: Seamus Coleman (Everton)

Kept the left-hand side of Manchester United attack, whether Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford or Anthony Elanga, very quiet as his side took the spoils 1-0. Despite his advancing years, he is still a valuable option for Frank Lampard.

CB: Liam Cooper (Leeds United)

All of the emphasis has been on the absence of Kalvin Phillips and Patrick Bamford this season, but Leeds United are equally reliant on club captain Liam Cooper, whose return was a most welcome sight. His return saw him keep a clean sheet in their 3-0 win over Watford.

CB: Dan Burn (Newcastle United)

Eyebrows were raised when Newcastle brought in Dan Burn on transfer deadline day, but he has repaid the faith shown in him in spades, and has immeasurably improved the Magpies defence.

LB: Marcos Alonso (Chelsea)

Dropped from the side against Real Madrid in midweek, Alonso showed just how important he can be for Thomas Tuchel with his performance against Southampton. Grabbed the opening goal and provided a constant threat.

CM: Enock Mwepu (Brighton and Hove Albion)

Man of the match against Arsenal, Mwepu has seen limited game time for Brighton this season but ran the show at the Emirates Stadium. Capped a fine performance with an equally sumptuous goal to double the Seagull’s lead.

CM: Mason Mount (Chelsea)

Mount has not grabbed the headlines this season as much as last, but has gone under the radar as one of the division’s best players to date. Two goals against Southampton underlined that.

CM: Kevin De Bruyne (Manchester City)

Ran the show against Liverpool, and was unlucky to be forced to settle for a share of the points. Scored the opener and were it not for some wasteful finishing from his teammates, he could have registered more involvements.

RW: Heung-Min Son (Tottenham Hotspur)

The Harry Kane Heung-Min Son telepathy continues to shine, but it was the Korean that stole the headlines with a brilliant hat-trick against Aston Villa.

With both men firing, a place in the top 4 is Tottenham’s to lose.

ST: Timo Werner (Chelsea)

Werner has not had a fun time since joining Chelsea in 2020, but had a field day against Southampton, grabbing himself two goals which could have been doubled if not for the woodwork of the Saints goal.

Could this be a turning point?

LW: Anthony Gordon

A sole flickering flame in a sea of darkness for Everton in recent weeks, the young man proved the main threat and ultimately the difference-maker as the Toffees took a massive step towards safety, netting the only goal against Manchester United.
