Despite this latest addition to the Baggies’ midfield, the remaining weeks of the summer transfer window could give Steve Bruce the chance to bring in another player who would give the 61-year-old the opportunity to form a scary partnership in the middle of the park alongside the Turkey international.
One man who has been linked with a move to The Hawthorns and who would be the ideal candidate for this particular role is Leicester City midfielder Hamza Choudhury.
This shows the defensive talent that he has and explains why the £61k-per-week figure would be a valuable addition to Bruce’s ranks at Albion.
Bearing in mind how Yokuslu highlighted his defensive prowess during his loan stint at The Hawthorns by racking up more interceptions (42) than any other player in the squad for that season (along with winning 33 tackles and making 40 clearances), this makes it safe to suggest that a midfield duo of him and Choudhury would be a fearsome obstacle for any opponent.
Having had his first Leicester goal described by Gary Lineker as “gorgeous”, Choudhury could be the whole midfield package which may prove the difference between West Brom winning promotion back to the Premier League or having another season in the Championship.
Should WBA sign Choudhury now that Yokuslu has arrived?
Last summer, Bruce was reportedly eager to sign the Leicester midfielder when he was still the manager of Newcastle United.
Clearly the Baggies boss is a big fan of the Foxes dynamo and knows enough about him to feel that the 24-year-old would be a solid asset for him at The Hawthorns.
If Albion can secure a deal for the Englishman this summer and get him playing alongside Yokuslu, this would surely top off what has been a rather productive period of transfer business and set the team up for a promotion charge.
